Lauren’s bio
Hi! I’m Lauren Hulit. I’m a BEST Certified Doula, Certified Placenta Encapsulator, and Childbirth Educator. I live in Woodland Hills, California and I serve the Los Angeles area, San Fernando Valley and Conejo Valley.
I offer non-judgemental support to all birthing people, no matter how you want to give birth. I support hospital birth, home birth, and birth center births. Whether you want an unmedicated birth, an epidural, a Cesarean birth, a VBAC, or you need to be induced, I will support you in having the most positive birth experience possible.
I believe in moms. I love and honor children, and I believe that we can, in fact, impact lives, starting with the birth experience. My mission is to empower pregnant people to know that they are capable of birthing and to make their own decisions about birth, and to know and honor that they’re in charge of their own care.
Growing up, I was exposed early on to the field of medicine and to the world of birthing. My aunt is a Certified Nurse Midwife, having helped deliver over 3000 babies over the last 4 decades. Not only that, but my grandmother was a nurse and my grandfather was a doctor! Caring for moms and babies is deeply embedded in my lineage.
My love for babies and children led me into the rewarding journey of nannyhood. For over 15 years, I’ve been supporting children, mothers and families in the greater Los Angeles area.
In college, I studied child-development and psychology, and I was exposed to a new field of psychology called Pre and Perinatal Psychology. I learned that the way that we parent our newborns does, in fact, have an effect on mental health outcomes. And not only that, but the way that pregnant women prepare for childbirth, as well as the nature of the birth experience itself, also sets the stage for mental health outcomes in our children. I’ve always been interested in psychology, but discovering this side of psychology revealed to me the tremendous importance in the prevention side rather than treatment side of psychology — and that the birth experience, and different stages of parenthood on both sides of the birth experience, are critical times in a human being’s life. With nannying, I have the power to guide children and help them grow, but what I realized here is that in participating on the forefront of the birth experience, as a doula, I have an opportunity to support the hidden, critical times in a human being’s life. If we can learn to care for our pregnant people, and best support them to birth and raise infants, we can make a difference in the mental health outcomes of future generations.
I am supportive of all women, mothers and fathers and parents. I am a body-positive, LGBTQ friendly doula supportive of all types of families. This is your birth, I’m here to support you in the process and offer evidence-based information on all the options available to you and your family in childbirth. It is my goal to help you have the birth you want, and for you to feel informed and supported every step of the way.
I invite you to honor your innate wisdom, to take back the birth experience, and to join this movement.
